In Cedar City, a woman has been arrested alongside her husband, both facing serious allegations related to child pornography. Jessica Lynn Huntsman, 26, and her husband, Chad Huntsman, 32, who previously worked as teachers at Diamond Ranch Academy in Hurricane, are now embroiled in a disturbing legal case.

Jessica was taken into custody on Tuesday, charged with three counts of felony sexual exploitation of a minor, and was subsequently released on a $10,000 bail the following day. The investigation into their activities intensified after Chad’s arrest on September 3, where he faced ten counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a minor. During a follow-up interview with detectives, Jessica reportedly admitted that she and Chad had searched for “under 18” pornography together. Authorities seized their separate cell phones, and forensic analysis of Jessica’s device revealed three photographs of child pornography, further complicating the couple’s legal troubles. Chad was released from jail shortly after his arrest, having posted a $100,000 bail, but the implications of their actions have raised significant concerns within the community about the safety of children around them.

The case against him began with a tip the Cedar City Police Department received from NCMEC about alleged illegal activity being posted to an online cloud, according to the probable cause statement.

CCPD received the tip from NCMEC after Dropbox Inc. reported a user had downloaded material related to alleged child abuse, the statement indicated.

Using the email address provided by the online storage service, police detectives were able to get two IP addresses allegedly used to upload the photos and an iPhone 5C, also allegedly used to upload photos, the statement continued.

Police submitted a judicial order to Google and found that the IP addresses used with the email account and iPhone were Huntsman’s – he also allegedly used his phone and tapped into the Internet at DRA, authorities said.

A representative at DRA said neither Chad nor Jessica is employed there anymore.

DRA issued the following public statement regarding the matter involving Chad Huntsman on Sept. 9:

“DRA is astonished and deeply saddened to hear of the events leading to the arrest of Chad Huntsman. His alleged misconduct had no connection whatsoever with his employment, any DRA computer or device, or his relationship with any of our students. DRA holds its employees to the highest legal and ethical standards, which includes national background checks which must be done each year, and employees who violate those standards are subject to disciplinary action, which may include immediate termination.”

DRA representatives said a thorough internal investigation was conducted and found that none of DRA’s students were harmed by the Huntsmans’ alleged actions.
