A few years back I thought it was a good idea to go for a long hike alone through Miles Standish State Forest. I had all my stuff packed for the day, left the parking lot at about 9:00 am, and headed south. Long open sandy roads divided the forest, and I decided to stay on 3 Cornered Pond Road for a while. I came to high T’s and immediately felt an overwhelming feeling of vulnerability as if something malicious was watching my every move. I ignored
this feeling and continued on 3 Cornered Pond Road. I veered off and started taking random trails when I noticed that same vulnerable feeling, and that’s
when I saw the black silhouette of a man very far down the trail heading toward me very quickly.
This gave me the goddamn creeps because I had not seen one person there the whole time. It was early April at 9:30 am, and for some reason this figure approaching me panicked me so much I turned around and began walking quickly the other way. I got to the high T’s again, and there it was still following me. I began to jog. I must have jogged ten minutes, and then the feeling was gone. I looked behind me, and the figure was gone. I got back to my car and got the hell out of there. I never freak out like that hiking, but something about Miles Standish State Forest gives me the creeps!.
